Description:
This family of 6-1/2 digit DMMs plug
into any 3U PXI or CompactPCI Chassis. They sport +3,300,000
counts, which is over 300% more dynamic range than other
units in this category. The SMX2040 has all the functionality
and performance expected of a high quality bench-top
DMM plus Thermocouple measurements, Offset Ohms and
various triggering modes. The SMX2042 adds capacitance,
frequency, various timing measurements, Peak-to-Peak,
RTD temperature and more. The SMX2044 adds inductance,
force/guard 6-wire Ohms, for measuring resistance networks
and resistors in circuit. It also measures leakage with
programmable voltage and can synthesize resistors. Several
built in sources; DCV, ACV and DCI are fully programmable
with variable level and frequency. The SMX2044 practically
has a built in calibrator. See the Features
Table for a complete list of features for each model.
The plug in design provides the convenience
of automated measurements, cost effectiveness and the
smallest possible footprint. This with compromise in
performance. Signal leads go straight from the SMX2040
in your PXI chassis to the device under test or to an
SMX4032 relay-switching card that switches among multiple
inputs. It couldn't be more straightforward. Also the
S/W is simplified since there is no intermediary IEEE488
controller with its associated command language.
Automated applications can be configured
using Visual Basic, C, LabView, LabWindows/CVI, TestPoint,
ATEasy, Matlab, Delphi and more. In fact, any package
that allows access to DLL can control these DMMs. To
get you started, source code for the virtual front panel
(written in Visual Basic) is provided with your SMX2040.
The SMX2040 is controlled with high-level
commands to its on-board controller. The controller
simplifies programming, minimizes overhead and speeds
up control and measurement operations. This architecture
also insures that the SMX2040 will operate well with
all operating systems even those with slow real time
response.
For safety and accuracy the SMX2040
has a 330V isolation barrier from the PXI Chassis, making
it a true differential instrument. Rugged input protection
enhances reliability. Accuracy is maintained with state
of the art precision components.
