Specifications

At Signametrics, we aren't interested in promising more then we can deliver. We want you to understand exactly what our instruments can, and cannot do. Signametrics strives to make its technical specifications as straightforward and easy to understand as possible.

Resolution
Signametrics DMMs are specified conservatively. What you see on the paper is actually what the instrument is capable of. By using precision components, attention to detail, and comprehensive understanding of measurement mechanics, Signametrics creates products with greater accuracy.

Dynamic Range
Signametrics DMMs have much higher dynamic range than the competition. Our 6-1/2 digits DMMs sport 3,300,00 counts, while the competition's DMM has only 1,050,000 counts. The same goes for our 7-1/2 digit DMMs. This is a very significant attribute with far reaching implications.

A higher dynamic range reduces range switching, measures more accurately a wider range of values and speeds up the measurement system. For instance, measuring an automotive 14V system, a Signametrics 6-1/2 digit DMM will display 14.000,00V, while an inferior DMM will display 14.000,0V or 1/10th the resolution.

Precise Measurement Timing
Our new DMMs give you exact control of the timing of the measurement engine, by setting the Aperture and the Read-Interval. The Aperture sets the Integration time, which trades off noise rejection, resolution, accuracy and speed. The Read Interval provides for precise measurement duration time, with 1usec granularity.

Signametrics provides you with the ability to control a lot of parameters governing the DMM operation. This allows for maximum flexibility and the ability to fine-tune the measurements system. Other products "do it for you". That is, a lot of performance characteristics are implied and are set internally, locking you out of controlling critical parameters.

Auto Zero Required?
Some of the other DMMs on the market require various special modes to be enabled in order to obtain the specified accuracy. These modes can have very negative effects on your measurement speed. In addition, sometimes these modes have detrimental effects on the measurement apparatus, inserting voltage spikes into the system.
